This is a website for a new, startup business. The brothers are great artists that have been working for others. They recently decided to strike out on their own. Their goal was to have a fun, informative website that could handle high traffic and also highlight their art. The site is built on the WordPress platform with a custom theme. Because custom artwork is a very personal thing, several custom forms have been added to the site, including forms on the WooCommerce product detail pages.

Custom artwork is a very personal thing. Clients need to be able to specify details about their artwork when purchasing. Forms were added to the WooCommerce product detail pages to allow clients to make their requests and specifications for their product. Some of these requests also add to the base price of the product. Price is updated and displayed before the product is added to the cart.
The cart and checkout pages have also been customized. Information entered into the product detail page form is carried over so that clients can see the information all the way through the checkout and payment process. The information is also included in the confirmation emails clients receive.
In addition to the custom forms visitors to the site see, the forms have a back end component as well. Because the process may be a little difficult to follow, Ron Weber (CEO) wanted to have the ability to change the copy used in the form labels, placeholders and hints. To accomplish this, functionality was added to the product add/edit page in the WordPress Admin portal. Additional tabs were added to the “Product data” section. Ron can choose if he want the forms to show up on the front-end product detail page as well as the copy.
Some of the form fields are drop-down or select fields. For these fields Ron can create the list of options he wants the visitor to see. For radio buttons and checkboxes, he can choose the default or ‘selected’ option.
All of this information, plus the users information added to the product detail form is saved to the database and is viewed in each completed purchase in the WooCommerce > Order detail page.
